Strategy Hits 848,000 BTC After Another Bitcoin Purchase

Bitcoin treasury firm Strategy has landed on another eye-catching round number. The company bought 334 BTC between Oct. 1 and Oct. 4 for $28.7 million, lifting its enormous bitcoin treasury from 847,666 BTC to exactly 848,000 BTC.

The latest coins cost an average $85,838.80 apiece, considerably above the company’s overall average acquisition price of $75,440.70. Strategy’s total cost basis now stands at approximately $63.97 billion.

Cash and MSTR Sales Fund the Purchase

The latest filing shows Strategy financed $15.7 million of the bitcoin purchase with proceeds from MSTR stock sales, while another $13 million came from its U.S. dollar cash pile. The company sold 92,894 MSTR shares during Oct. 1-4, generating $15.7 million in net proceeds.

Strategy was simultaneously spending heavily elsewhere. It repurchased 740,634 shares of STRC for $73.7 million during the same four-day period, following $102.6 million of STRC repurchases between Sept. 28 and Sept. 30.

Saylor Points to a $21 Billion Quarter

Executive Chairman Michael Saylor put the numbers together in a post, saying, “Strategy reports a $21 billion gain on digital assets in Q3 2026. Last week, we acquired 334 BTC and repurchased $176M of STRC. As of 10/4/26, we hold 848,000 BTC and $5.7B of USD Assets.”

Strategy’s filing puts its estimated third-quarter digital asset gain more precisely at $20.91 billion and its digital asset carrying value at $70.82 billion as of Sept. 30. Saylor added, “USD Duration is 3.6 yrs and STRC’s BTC Credit is 50 bps assuming 10% BTC ARR, 40% BTC Vol, and a BTC price of $84,289.”

With 848,000 BTC now on the books, Strategy has once again managed to make a 334 BTC purchase look small.
