Key Takeaways:
- RLUSD integration is being made by Cross River into the core banking infrastructure of the XRP Ledger.
- Fintechs will be able to connect to RLUSD, ACH, wires and real-time payments via a single API.
- RLUSD is now over $2.5 billion in market cap with over $1B in tokens issued on XRPL.
Ripple is introducing RLUSD to the regulated dos and don’ts of U.S. banking with an integration to Cross River Bank.

The partnership connects Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin and the XRP Ledger with Cross River’s proprietary Core Operating System, giving fintech companies another way to move between traditional dollars and blockchain-based payments.
RLUSD payments are becoming part of the banking infrastructure fintechs already use.
We’re partnering with @CrossRiverBank to integrate RLUSD on the XRP Ledger into its core banking platform, providing 24/7 settlement within payment networks and greater flexibility to settle intraday.

Cross River Adds RLUSD to Its Core Banking Infrastructure
Cross River will embed RLUSD as another payment channel on their banking platform, inherent with transactions taking place on the XRP ledger. The aim is to enable businesses to settle blockchain without having to construct and maintain their very own blockchain infrastructure.
With one API connection, fintechs can easily pivot between USD and RLUSD, support cross-border transfers and treasury payments, and still utilize traditional rails like ACH, wire transfer and real-time payment services.
Basic integration will decrease the number of businesses needing separate providers when transferring funds across borders, Cross River said.

XRPL Settlement Takes 3 – 5 Seconds
The XRP Ledger serves as the settlement layer for the integration. Cross River claims that the transaction can settle in about 3-5 seconds, with a cost of just a few cents and it can run around the clock. To date the network has been processing over $1.3 trillion of settlement value.
This provides greater flexibility for the issuers and acquirers to complete payments throughout the day rather than waiting for standard banking procedures at cut off time.
A model that could also enable funds to pass outside of the normal business hours for the treasury team without interrupting bank payment services.
RLUSD Market Cap Surpasses $2.5 Billion
The collaboration is coming at a time when Ripple’s stablecoin is rapidly expanding. The market capitalization of the company, RLUSD, stands at more than $2.5 billion, with more than $1 billion directly on the XRP Ledger, Cross River said.
Instead of creating its own ecosystem, Ripple wants to integrate the stablecoin with infrastructure used by banks and fintech companies. That strategy is reflected in the Cross River setup: RLUSD sits alongside conventional dollar payment rails instead of replacing them entirely.

Ripple Expands Institutional Stablecoin Access
Ripple has been gradually shifting its focus to the financial institutions, which are regulated.
It now has more than 85 licenses worldwide to supply products that include payments, custody, treasury management and other institutional services.
The integration opens up yet another regulated distribution channel for RLUSD and provides fintech clients with a straight path to the XRPL settlement directly through the banking ecosystem.
The service is only offered in some U.S. states and will expand to more States over time as Cross River expands access.
