The latest purchase cost approximately $21.5 million and pushed the company’s holdings to 848,250 BTC. But the bitcoin purchase was only part of Monday’s announcement, which also revealed a $192.4 million repurchase of Strategy’s STRC preferred shares.
Strategy’s Bitcoin Treasury Reaches 848,250 BTC
On Monday, Oct. 12, 2026, Strategy disclosed that it acquired 250 BTC between Oct. 5 and Oct. 11 at an average price of $86,194 per coin, including fees and expenses.
The acquisition brings Strategy’s cumulative bitcoin investment to approximately $64 billion, with an average acquisition price of $75,444 per BTC. Saylor shared the news with his 5.2 million X followers, writing:
“Strategy has acquired 250 BTC and repurchased $192M of STRC. As of 10/11/26, we hold 848,250 BTC and $5.5B of USD Assets. USD Duration is 3.5 yrs and STRC’s BTC Credit is 52 bps assuming 10% BTC ARR, 40% BTC Vol, and a BTC price of $82,252.”
The company’s latest regulatory disclosure shows that $21 million of the bitcoin purchase was financed through proceeds from selling 125,183 shares of MSTR common stock. Another $500,000 came from existing cash.
Beyond accumulating bitcoin, Strategy repurchased 1,932,145 shares of its variable-rate Series A perpetual Stretch preferred stock, known as STRC, for approximately $192.4 million. The company reported that $354.8 million remains available under its preferred stock repurchase program.
As of Oct. 11, Strategy held $4.88 billion in its U.S. dollar reserve alongside $640.5 million in additional cash. The latest figures illustrate Strategy’s two-pronged capital management approach, combining continued bitcoin accumulation with preferred stock repurchases and substantial dollar liquidity.
While the company spent $21.5 million acquiring more bitcoin, it committed nearly nine times that amount to buying back STRC shares.
